Autophagy

Research Focus

Autophagy (“self-eating”) is a bulk degradation process in eukaryotic cells. It is induced during starvation and certain types of cell death, and defective autophagy is associated with various human diseases. We have investigated the role of plant Atg (Autophagy-related) genes in similar physiology - nutrient recycling and plant cell death. We are also interested in elucidating how autophagy in plant cells is controlled.
